Caring for your child

Ranby House School aims to provide a happy and caring environment for each child. The staff take the welfare of each child seriously and there is a pastoral care structure to ensure that pupils are well-looked after.

In the Pre-Prep and Years 3 and 4 of the Prep School, the class teachers are mainly responsible for the pastoral care of the children in their class. In Years 5, 6 and 7, the responsibility lies with the Form Teacher, a member of the teaching staff who is assigned to look after a teaching group. In Year 8 the pupils are looked after by a Tutor.

For boarding children, the pastoral responsibility is shared with the Houseparents. Other staff are involved to ensure that pupils are cared for: the lists includes senior staff and the School Chaplain. The health and physical well-being of the children is provided for by the School Nurses who work in partnership with parents and staff.

Pupils are provided with opportunities to share worries and concerns should they have problems: the Pupils’ Charter details advice on how to seek help.
