Chess

Chess is taken very seriously at Ranby House School. An ex member of staff comes in at lunch time to coach, encourage and play against any children who attend the daily chess session.

Knock-out tournaments are drawn up for every year group in the school and leagues for some year groups.  House matches are played in the spring term.

Matches are played against other schools at Under 9, Under 11 and Senior age groups, and chess colours are awarded to the leading players in their final year.

The school also takes part in the National UK Challenge Competition, and has had over the years many children reach the National Mega Final, and the next round the Giga Final.
