Confirmation has a high priority in the life of the Chapel and the School and as such is seen as one of the high points in the school career of any individual pupil.

 

At present Confirmation takes place on the first Sunday in December. Over the last few years a bishop has come to St. Augustine’s Chapel to preside at the Confirmation service.

 

The following represents the basis of the Confirmation Policy:

 

Classes take place in the Autumn Term;

 

Pupils from Year 6 to Year 8 are offered the opportunity to attend classes;

 

Towards the end of the course pupils decide whether they are ready to be

confirmed or whether they would like to wait for a future date;

 

Classes are given on the understanding that they are free to choose the above;

 

The Chaplain leads the Confirmation course assisted where appropriate by

other members of the staff;

 

Classes are largely by discussion and are based on the Youth Emmaus material produced by Church House Publishing.
