Welcome to the Design and Technology Gallery for Years 7 & 8.

Below are just some of the projects completed by pupils at Ranby House using a variety of media.

YEAR 7

Here is a selection of Year 7 work including a CAD / CAM graphic project on air fresheners, a wood based tea light project which involved steaming and bending wood and, finally, a project which combined casting pewter into a CAD / CAM fabricated mould with traditional woodwork in Oak to make a pen holder.

YEAR 8

Here is a selection of MP3 speakers designed and made by our Year 8 pupils. The pupils have built a mono amplifier circuit from a kit and then designed and made the speaker housing using a variety of media.

This project is the culmination of four year's experience in Design and Technology and the pupils are expected to take environment, aesthetics, ergonomics, material properties and appropriate manufacturing techniques into account when designing and making their product.

A short course in basic electronics and an appreciation of the factors that affect sound reproduction also precede the design stage of the project.
