ICT @ Ranby House
ICT at Ranby comes in many shapes and sizes and is used across the whole of the curriculum spectrum. Children from Year 2 upwards have designated ICT lessons with an ICT specialist in order to provide them with the skills they need for future independent learning. Our aim is to provide our pupils with the confidence to investigate and inquire and use ICT as a support tool for future development.
The ICT curriculum at Ranby reflects the ever changing demands of the modern world and is continuously being adapted to recognise that the skills and understanding our children need changes with the technology. We mirror and go beyond the demands of the National Curriculum, ensuring our pupils have a wide range of ICT skills for future use. As well as looking at the foundation stones of publishing, databases and control we are developing skills in media presenting, programming and website development; reflecting the demands of technology in today’s society.
Children transfer the skills developed in specific ICT sessions into work throughout other subjects in the curriculum. Staff and children regularly use the two ICT suites on offer to support the teaching and learning in their particular subject area.
