Learning Support

Welcome to the Learning Support Unit. (L.S.U.)

We are a friendly, dedicated and experienced team of teachers and classroom assistants.

Our Unit caters for pupils with a range of mild specific difficulties including Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Attention Disorders and Asperger’s Syndrome.

Centrally located, the Unit has four teaching areas and provides a calm non-threatening environment in which pupils can overcome their difficulties in learning, achieve success and grow in confidence.

The L.S.U. Staff assist pupils by offering individual, group and class support.

The team is pro-active in its approach and works in partnership with colleagues and parents to ensure pupils achieve their potential at Ranby House.

All pupils in our care have Individual School Action Plans which identify appropriate targets in learning for them.

We believe that all pupils learn in different ways therefore we incorporate visual, auditory and kinaesthetic learning in all our programmes to ensure all learning styles are catered for.

Through mentoring and careful nurturing we encourage our pupils to gradually acquire their own thinking and learning profiles in order to maximise their strengths.
