Key Stage 1
Children transfer from Reception to Year 1 where there is a more formal approach to the curriculum. The children begin to follow an individual programme at their level, related to the National Curriculum. Differentiated groups work co-operatively within a classroom setting, each child reaching his/her own potential according to his/her ability.
The curriculum is extended during Year 1 to include French, Judo activities and swimming. Close liaison between class teachers ensures a smooth transition to Year 2 where children continue to progress at their own rate.
Additions to the curriculum in Year 2 include the use of the ICT Suite in the Prep school alongside a weekly music session with a woodwind specialist.
Transfer to the Prep school takes place in the September following your child’s seventh birthday. A smooth transfer is one of the benefits of the Pre-Prep education. |
